The Economics of Elder Care

Abstract: A 6 page discussion of the economics of caring for the nation's elderly population. Relates the demographic changes which the country has undergone since the initial inception of programs such as Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid and discusses how these changes have imperiled the fate of these systems. Emphasizes that a number of the nation's elderly are directly dependent on these systems for their most basic of needs and that a solution must be identified to save these programs if our nation is to survive both economically and culturally. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
